Classic Sonic speed and colourful worlds on handheld
Sonic Advance for the Game Boy Advance is, in my opinion, a strong translation of the classic Sonic experience to a handheld. The game retains the speed, colourful worlds, and challenging platform action that the series is known for. I think the detailed sprites and smooth animations give the game a fresh look and feel. With multiple playable characters like Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy, it offers variety in play style and invites you to revisit the levels, which my friends and I really enjoy.
The energetic soundtrack perfectly matches the fast-paced gameplay and keeps the adrenaline high. However, the difficulty level is unfortunately a bit inconsistent, which can be frustrating at times. One moment you're flying through a level, while the next moment a tricky obstacle hinders your progress. That can be a bit annoying, but it also adds to the challenge you expect from a Sonic game.
Despite the fluctuations in difficulty, Sonic Advance captures the essence of the franchise and provides a great experience for both nostalgic fans and newcomers. It's lovely to see how the classic elements of the series come to life on the Game Boy Advance, and for anyone who loves fast platform games, this is a must-have.
