The classic has been renewed!
Since its release in 2004, over twelve years ago, I have been wandering around the Kanto region and I have never been bored. In the ten years since the original release of Red and Green, the Pokémon franchise has improved so much, and that is evident in how completely different this renewed version is. The original versions have become so outdated that they don't always play smoothly anymore. FireRed and LeafGreen are better options. You can also transfer your Pokémon to the DS Pokémon games. That is definitely a plus.

However, my opinion is tainted. I can imagine that the game might get boring, especially if you don't have anyone else to play it with. Trading with other players is what makes the games so enjoyable, but now try to find players who are still engaging with these parts today.

Generation 1 in a new beautiful outfit
In 2004, Pokémon LeafGreen Version was released for the Gameboy Advance.

It is a turn-based role-playing game. You choose a move/attack for your Pokémon to perform, while your opponent does the same. This cycle continues until there is one winner and the battle is over. As a character, you can choose between a boy and a girl. It is not possible to customize the appearance of your character further.

The game follows the same story as the generation 1 games (Red and Blue). It is a remake of the original Gameboy game, now beautifully playable on the Gameboy Advance.

You start in Pallet Town, where Professor Oak gives you your first Pokémon. You can choose from the well-known trio: Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. From there, your adventure begins as you compete against many other Pokémon trainers. Your goal is to obtain all 8 Gym Badges and eventually defeat the Elite Four to proclaim yourself as the Pokémon Champion. While exploring Kanto, you can also encounter the three legendary birds: Articuno, Moltres, Zapdos.

After becoming the Pokémon Champion, you can visit the Sevii Islands. Here, you can obtain the Ruby and Sapphire stones needed to trade / exchange Pokémon with games from the Hoenn region / generation 3 (Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald).
You can now challenge the Elite Four again, with their Pokémon being even stronger.
Additionally, you can capture Mewtwo and one of the legendary dogs (Entei, Raikou, and Suicune).

Pros: Music/sound, beautiful graphics, lots to do after completing the story, many Pokémon to catch, high replay value, lengthy gameplay, numerous legendary Pokémon.

Cons: No day and night cycle (like in Pokémon Gold and Silver), with only Pokémon LeafGreen Version in your possession, you cannot catch/collect all Pokémon, it takes a while before you can trade with third-generation games (Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald).
Hide.

A remake, but still an exciting and fun game!
Pokémon LeafGreen Version is a remake of Pokémon Green (not released in Europe). And definitely not a bad one! You start in Pallet Town and the goal is to defeat all 8 gym leaders and then also the Elite 4 and the Kanto Champion. But first, you'll need to catch and train Pokémon! To start, you can choose between Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. My favorite is Bulbasaur. Before challenging the Kanto Champion, you'll also have to battle your rival many times, and sometimes it's not easy! You'll also need to prevent Team Rocket from carrying out their evil plans! This says it all: It's an exciting adventure, and now the only question left is: will you become the new Kanto Champion?

Amazing game (nostalgia?)
Used to play this game on the Game Boy Advance, missed this game a lot after 14 years.
So, I dusted off my Game Boy Advance and started a new save game,
and oh, the nostalgia hit me.
It's truly an amazing game in itself, but if you've already played the older Pokémon games and want to relive it, then this is definitely a "must have"!

Better than Red & Blue
This game is better in every way than Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue. Most of the game-breaking glitches from the first game have been removed, and the game is very easy to understand and play. Especially the controls are very easy, and personally, I have learned a huge amount of English by playing this game. I definitely recommend Pokémon LeafGreen Version for both novice and seasoned Pokemon players.

A perfect remake of Red and Blue
Pokémon LeafGreen Version (and FireRed) are wonderful revisions of the original gen 1 games. New elements have been added, and of course, the game features those beautiful gen 3 graphics. In the original Red and Blue, there isn't much to do after defeating the champion, the final boss. This has been improved upon, and we now have a few new islands to explore. There are also other extras that you won't find in the old games.

If you want to play a Kanto game, these remakes are the best choice.

Put a Ditto and a Rattata in the Daycare to get an extra Rattata from an egg, make sure the Rattata knows the moves Quick Attack and Endeavour. Equip it with a Focus Sash so it can survive any attack with 1 HP remaining. Engage in a battle and have the opponent use a move after you select Endeavour, surviving the attack with 1 HP. Then, choose Quick Attack and defeat a Pokemon of your choice. Good luck with this trick in Pokémon LeafGreen Version!

As any Pokémon player knows, there's the Day Care in Pokémon LeafGreen Version. At this spot, you can leave a Pokémon (only one in this game) and have it level up there. Here's how it works: Leave the Pokémon you want at the Day Care. Then, for every step you take, the Pokémon at the Day Care gains 1 exp. If that Pokémon needs a lot of exp. to level up, it will take longer for it to do so.
