Hidden Spooky Gem
Monster House is an exception to the rule that games based on movies are inherently bad. It's not surprising that this game has remained so unknown; who really pays attention to a Monster House game?

Well, you, as a true Game Boy enthusiast, aren't bothered by stigmas; it's all about the game itself. And this game is simply a winner.

You might be wondering, what makes Monster House on the Game Boy Advance so enjoyable. Well, it draws a lot of inspiration from the excellent The Legend of Zelda series, and that's precisely why this eerie game is so well-crafted.

The game revolves around the same three main characters as in the movie; DJ, Chowder, and Jenny, as they try to prevent a local haunted house from devouring everyone during Halloween. However, they also get eaten by the house and stay inside throughout the entire game, unlike the movie itself. And that's a good thing because it only adds to the fun.

Grab your flashlight and embark on a 15-hour spooky adventure with the three companions in search of the heart of the house, an eternal burning oven, to try to extinguish it and save your town (and yourself) in the process.

The game features a distorted style, perfectly suited to the genre. All main characters are excellently animated, and each of the ten floors of the haunted house has its own unique style.

Often, a game developer skimps on the music to save space on the limited GBA cartridge and allocate more storage to the visuals.

However, since this game was released in 2006, it is exceptionally well-optimized, and even the eerie music and sound effects are of high quality; from the creaking of the wooden floor and possessed furniture to the splashing of the three children's water guns; all top-notch.

The game mimics Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda games so well that partly because of that, the game is almost as good.

Truly, if you're looking for hidden treasures on the Game Boy Advance, be sure to get your hands on this game.

Secrets:
How to unlock the Difficult Game Mode and find the Ruby Key in Monster House on the GBA?
Philip

Play Monster House once on the GBA to unlock the Hard Game Mode. Afterwards, when you start a new game, you will begin with a Ruby Key in your inventory, which can be used to open the door on the right in the hallway. In the room, there is an arcade machine with a game called "Thou Art Dead". The game plays similar to the old Castlevania games (yes, even that aspect is done well in this game). Double the enjoyment.
