What is the difference between AGS001 and AGS101?
The AGS101 was released in 2005 and the difference with the AGS001 is that the screen is more illuminated. With the 001, you have the options for the light 'off' and 'on/normal'. With the 101, the 'off' option is no longer available, here you only have 'normal' and 'more illuminated'.
It is definitely recommended to choose the 101 over the 001, as the colors come out much better and it feels like you are playing in HD. The best example I found on YouTube where someone compares the intro of the pokémon games of the 001 and 101 side by side. The green is really green and no longer dull!

This updated version of the GBA SP (2003) was released in September 2005. The difference from the older model is that the screen is now backlit instead of frontlit. This results in a more visible screen with brighter colors compared to the first version of the SP.
