Harmony of Dissonance improves in almost every aspect over the previous game released on the GBA: Circle of the Moon. The castle is simply gigantic and the improved and streamlined controls make it a joy to explore. Dodge and charge at enemies with L1 and R1 (yes, those are Playstation terms. Call me a heretic).
On top of the already gigantic castle in the real world, there is also an alternative version in another dimension, where you as a player must cleverly navigate between to solve puzzles and defeat enemies; simply brilliant and revolutionary.
All in all, the game offers dozens of hours of gameplay fun. The sprites look very good, with gigantic knights floating on your screen thanks to independently moving and animated body parts; your GBA is pushed to the limit by this masterpiece.
Unfortunately, due to the limitations of GBA cartridges, there is also a compromise; the music is not as good as the predecessor.
Nevertheless, if someone asks you what the best games on the GBA are, Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance certainly belongs there. Grab your silver bullet, load it into your great-grandfather's gun, and embark on the adventure of this classic!
