A classic spooky platform game to sink your teeth into!
CastleVania, known in Japan as ''Akumajo Dracula'', is a platform game where you control vampire hunter Simon Belmont and defeat enemies with a whip, the Vampire Killer. Simon is on a mission to find the dreadful Count Vlad Tepes Dracula, with only one goal -- to put the Count back into a deep sleep, end his evil, and restore peace in Romanian Transylvania!
The game features six levels, brimming with secrets and terrifying monsters on guard, such as walking armors; black cats eager to feast on a wandering human; bats; flying Medusa heads; and walking skeletons throwing bones! Moreover, controlling the main character Simon is not exactly easy -- you can either jump straight up, or in an arc forward, often leading you to jump right into a hole and restart the level. You'll also lose your extra weapon when you lose a life. So, do not underestimate this game -- it's just as challenging as it was when it was released in 1987!
The soundtrack of this game has become iconic in the gaming world, with many re-releases and remakes over the years. Standout tracks from this soundtrack include ''Vampire Killer'', ''Don't Wait Until Night'', ''Stalker'', and ''Heart of Fire''. The music alone is a reason why Castlevania still holds a prominent place in the gaming world!
