The Kojima game perfect for summer!
Hideo Kojima, you might know him from the Metal Gear series, but did you know he also created another GBA game? A game that requires you to go outside to get the most out of it?

It might sound strange, but it's for a good reason: not only is Boktai: The Sun Is in Your Hand about a vampire hunter who is stronger during the day, but there's also a UV sensor built into your cartridge, integrating sunlight into your game!

Kojima is known for his attention to detail, which is why he had an internal clock installed in the cartridge. By entering your current time, time zone, year, and date, you can play the game with a real day-night cycle, perfectly synced to your location. Sunlight shines through the windows, and the sun in the game is positioned exactly where it should be. Birds chirp in the morning, and the game takes on an orange hue at sunset.

When you play this game outside in direct sunlight, you can recharge the batteries of your "Gun Del Sol" (solar weapon), giving you enough energy to make the most of your game even at night. Don't worry: although it's going to be an exceptionally warm and sunny summer, you're not always obliged to play Boktai outdoors; you can also gain energy within the game itself.

Ultimately, you can't avoid it: to defeat vampire bosses, you really have to step outside. It might sound like quite a task, but it genuinely adds a lot of charm.

The game plays like an action RPG, combined with stealth. Highly addictive. Additionally, the game features quite a few voiceovers. Truly high production quality!

So, if you're up for a unique and fun experience for your GBA, if you want to discover what Hideo Kojima has been up to, if you still want to get a tan while playing on your GBA, then get Boktai: The Sun is in Your Hand now!

A unique and innovative game with a sun sensor!
Boktai: The Sun Is in Your Hand is an action-adventure game with RPG, puzzle, and stealth elements. However, it's not your typical game because it more or less forces you to game outside in the sun!?

The story of the game revolves around the city of San Miguel, where a curse has turned all its inhabitants undead. The city has also been taken over by a race of immortals called the 'Immortals'. A young vampire hunter named 'Django' has managed to escape and wields a very special weapon called the 'Gun del Sol'. Django sets out to break the curse and save what can be saved.

And here comes the special part of this game and the reason why you need to be outside in the sun; the cartridge actually contains a BUILT-IN SUN SENSOR!
And believe me, the sun has a significant impact on your gaming experience. For the most part of the game, it's the only way to charge your 'Gun del Sol'. Without sun, you can't defeat the undead. There are also quite a few stealth elements in the game where you can sneak through dungeons without engaging in battles, but that's not the only thing affected by the sun. It also influences certain puzzles; for example, you won't get light through windows if you're not in the sun. And perhaps the most crucial impact is on the bosses, the 'Immortals', as they are impossible to defeat without sunlight.
Another key element in combination with the sun is the time of day and year. The game offers a completely different experience in the afternoon than at night. It becomes much more challenging at night. To top it off, even the moon plays a role in the game. It's definitely not your average game.

Furthermore, the game strikes a good balance between puzzles, battles, and exploration. It's generally not too difficult, except for some puzzles, and the gameplay duration is reasonable, around ten hours, with good replay value. The graphics and sound in this game are also impressive.

The only drawback, in my opinion, relates to the sun sensor. If someone only has time to play in the evening, for example, they won't be able to fully enjoy this game, which would be a shame. However, you can still simulate sunlight with a UV lamp, but that seems a bit inconvenient. And of course, when you're in the sun, you may not always see the screen of the game console very well.
Nevertheless, I believe this should not deter you from buying and playing this game if you're interested, as it offers a truly unique experience with many advantages.

All in all, I highly recommend Boktai: The Sun Is in Your Hand. It's a unique experience that you won't easily forget and is quite innovative. A fantastic game to add to your gaming collection.

Are you, like the vampires you fight against in Boktai: The Sun Is in Your Hand, also so averse to the sun? Do you hate the outdoors? No problem!

Grab that UV lamp from your attic, and hold it in front of your UV sensor: the game will think you're enjoying the sunshine outside. But you're the clever one here fooling Hideo Kojima.

After all, you have to maintain your deathly pale appearance somehow, right?
